This workshop sheds light on the science of Maqasid (objectives of Islamic law) as one of the key pillars for renewing Islamic thought and building a contemporary civilizational vision. Participants will explore its origins, development, and foundational concepts, as well as its role in addressing issues related to the state, society, and human rights. The workshop places particular emphasis on equipping researchers with practical skills to effectively incorporate Maqasid into their academic research and theses.

Prof. Mokhless Sebti
Professor of Islamic Thought and Civilization, Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Hassan II University, Kingdom of Morocco
Prof. Sebti is a senior academic specializing in Islamic thought and civilization. He holds a Ph.D. and a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Thought and Civilization, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Hadith Studies and its Sciences. His research covers topics such as religion, state and secularism, strategies for revival, Maqasid studies, and futures studies. He teaches research methodologies and various humanities subjects. Prof. Sebti is the founder and head of the Master’s program in Islamic Thought and the Shared Human Heritage, a member of the Laboratory for Islamic Thought and Translation at Hassan II University in Morocco, and president of the Al-Massar Cultural Association. He has authored and published works on intellectual and civilizational issues, participated in national and international conferences and symposia, and supervised numerous academic theses and doctoral dissertations.
