The workshop highlighted the pivotal role of scientific methodologies in shaping rigorous research in the field of Islamic studies by structuring ideas, regulating methods of inference, and achieving reliable scholarly outcomes. It also emphasized the importance of distinguishing between research methodologies in Islamic studies and those in the social sciences.

The scientific program of the workshop covered several key themes, including:

  1. An introduction to research methodologies in Islamic studies: concepts, significance, and distinction from social science methodologies.
  2. A review of major methodologies applied: descriptive, inductive, analytical, historical, comparative, and deductive.
  3. How to select the most appropriate methodology based on the nature of the study and its sources.
  4. Common mistakes in applying methodologies in Islamic research and ways to avoid them.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Kawthar Abdulrahman Mahmoud, Professor at Al-Imam Al-Azam University – Iraq, who engaged participants in discussions on key research challenges and shared practical recommendations to help scholars select and effectively apply suitable methodologies in their studies.
