Original research methodologies remain the cornerstone of advancing Islamic studies and addressing contemporary issues of the Muslim community. Building on this foundation, the international workshop titled “Methodology of Preparing Original Research in Islamic Studies: From Idea to Publication” was held on August 27, 2025, with the participation of more than 200 researchers from various countries.

The workshop guided participants through the essential steps of developing scholarly work in Islamic studies, starting from identifying a research topic and formulating research questions and hypotheses, to academic publication in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Emphasis was placed on originality, methodological rigor, and adherence to the standards of quality publishing. The workshop also served as an opportunity to introduce participants to one of the leading specialized conferences to be held soon.

Key themes addressed included:

How to select an original research topic in Islamic studies.

Formulating research problems, questions, and hypotheses.

Methodologies applied in contemporary Islamic research.

Requirements for writing publishable research for journals and conferences.

The workshop was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Imad Mohammed Abdullah, Professor of Islamic Preaching and Culture at the International Islamic University, who shared his academic expertise and provided practical examples to enhance participants’ research skills.
